Play therapy
For children, play is the most effective and natural form of communication. Therefore, it makes sense that in order for children to process through difficult emotions or experiences, they need to be able to actively play those out with a trained mental health provider. Play therapy typically is most beneficial for children 3 to 12 years of age; however our providers incorporate aspects of play in therapy with children of all ages.
Play therapy is a highly researched and an evidence-based treatment modality for a very large range of mental health concerns. Children who have experienced trauma, difficult life adjustments, symptoms of anxiety, depression, and behavioral concerns can all benefit from play therapy, along with many other concerns and diagnoses. Rest assured that our providers will be doing much more than “playing” with your child. They will be actively working to help your child process through emotions, experiences, and dysregulation with a modality that your child is most comfortable expressing themselves through.
