What will therapy be like?
Let’s face it; the thought of going to therapy is intimidating! Having to talk to a stranger about your troubles, telling this person things you might not even tell your best friend, and then having to pay them to listen to you? How is this person even going to help you? What will this person think of you? Can she be trusted to keep all of your secrets?
Whatever the reason for being anxious about seeing a therapist, it’s normal! It is absolutely natural to worry about what is going to happen when you don’t know what to expect.
What to expect: You can expect your therapist at Aspire Counseling to be inviting, non-judgmental, and easy going. At Aspire we recognize you may feel uneasy about the process and we want to make this as beneficial to you as we can. Don’t worry about your therapist thinking negatively about you. We know that life throws tough challenges at us some times. It takes a lot of strength to come to therapy and we value the privilege of helping you find your way through those challenges. Please do tell us about all of your concerns; we are here to listen! We will work with you to make the changes in your life that you desire. And, throughout the entire process, we honor and respect your privacy .
Have more questions? Next week, we’ll dive deeper, describing what to expect in the first few sessions specifically at Aspire Counseling. Can’t wait until then? If you have questions or are ready to begin, feel free to reach out! We’d love to schedule a time to get started. 320-587-3331
